Beyond Copenhagen: Taking Stock and Looking Forward

The main purpose of the event is to take stock of the Copenhagen COP-15 summit. What does the outcome mean? What are the chances and options remaining for a sufficiently ambitious climate regime? How can the world go on after this outcome in keeping climate change at reasonably safe levels?

Bert Metz (former co-chair of the climate change mitigation working group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Chief Climate Negotiator of the Netherlands, current Fellow of the European Climate Foundation and author of the recent book “Controlling Climate Change”) will give a keynote speech on the outcome of the Copenhagen negotiations, followed by a panel discussion with CEU professors and external experts.

The second part of the event will be dedicated to showcasing selected research activities at CEU related to climate change: 3CSEP director Diana Urge-Vorsatz and professor Lajos Racz from the Department of History will present their latest climate change-related research.

Please find a detailed agenda in the PDF file below, and please indicate your participation through the 3CSEP contact form.
